Buckhaven is a coastal town in Wemyss
Parish situated between Methil
and East Wemyss. It was a major fishing port in the first half of the 19th
century and a mining town from the 1860s.
During much of the 20th century it was popular as a holiday
resort.
During the 1980s, the Episcopal Church was refurbished
and converted to become Buckhaven Theatre. This building was originally
situated in Saint Andrews, Fife, from where it was purchased by residents
of Buckhaven and moved stone by stone to its present location.
