Laurence Mercer
Laurence was baptised on 31st January, 1579. He matriculated at St Andrews in 1596. He purchased an Annual Rent over Newton of Forgandenny from his uncle William, 1600. He married Elizabeth Wallace about 1605. He graduated in 1600. He was parson of Arngask in 1607 and was Parson of Fossoway (the Parish in which Aldie is situated) in 1609. Laurence and Elizabeth had a son:

Elizabeth Wallace
Elizabeth was the daughter of (Helen or Margaret?) Couston and Alexander Wallace of the House of Craigie, Minister of Fossoway who died on 13th February, 1606, aged 46. Elizabeth died in 1608. |

Laurence married again on 8th February, 1619. His second
wife was Margaret Mylis. They had three children:
Laurence died in 1657 and is buried at Fossoway. |
Margaret Myles Margaret's marriage to Laurence Mercer was solemnised in the Kirk of Cleish on 08/Feb/1619 - See Session Book of Fossoway. Her father, Mr Edmond Mylis, was nominated Parson of Cleish, 17/Mar/1581-2. |
